Featured Job Opportunity: Corporate Controller

We are currently assisting our growing, east-side client with their search for a Corporate Controller.

Description of Job: This key member of the leadership team is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

The ideal candidate will have proven success as a high-performing leader; they will be collaborative, strategic, and serve as a valued member of the senior leadership team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Oversees the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives
  • Issues timely and complete financial statements
  • Coordinates the preparation of the corporate annual report
  • Recommends benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Calculates and issues financial and operating metrics
  • Calculates variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Oversees the system of management cost reports
  • Coordinates the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Coordinate all activities associated with the external auditor relationship
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment, with at least 5 years leading and developing a high-performing team

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment, partnering with those on the senior leadership team to drive results and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with other associates in a hands-on management capacity
  • Above average computer skills, including but not limited to advanced Excel
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid analytical and organization skills
  • Ability to mentor and motivate others
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
