EVENT: IoT: Building Green and Sustainably

Are we still building buildings in the 21st century or are we building a sensing computer with a roof? Companies investing in digital transformation are seeing double-digit revenue and profit increases (MIT, 2018).  How will the 21st-century economy change the way we build – who will be the winners and losers? Is your business positioned to flourish or perish? A panel of experts moderated by Dr. Bill Paolillo will use the Greenest Office Building in the world as a case study to explain the implications of how the Internet of Things (IoT) in the Built Environment is changing the way we build, creating a more engaged workforce and requiring a new level of defense from cyber threats.

Joe Compton, Principal with the Risk Advisory Services group, will join as a panelist.

EVENT: IASA 2019: Effectively Managing the Privacy Rights of Individuals

Join Jaike Hornreich and Tim Porter of our Risk Advisory Services group as they discuss ways to effectively manage the privacy rights of individuals at the upcoming IASA Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.

A patchwork of privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2 Privacy, HIPAA/HITRUST to name a few) have been rapidly implemented over the last few years and maintaining compliance has become a significant burden to Companies. Not meeting these regulations can result in severe fines, lawsuits, and reputational damage, and meeting them can require a large upfront investment (both in employee time and expenses).

Based on Skoda Minotti's experience assisting clients with the implementation of security and privacy programs, a large number of overlapping principles and requirements between the frameworks became apparent. The session will surface the similarities between the primary privacy frameworks, teach 10 actions that can be taken immediately to enhance internal privacy controls and meet regulatory requirements and explain the effort involved with implementation, along with the risk of not being prepared.

EVENT: NAVCA and the CTI’s 2019 Annual Consultants’ Conference

Today’s financial valuation and financial litigation consultants face a constant uphill climb. They are navigating paths, some uncharted, where the market and need for services are constantly in flux.

The profession is also maturing, presenting rough terrain for competition and commoditization for services. Coupled with paradigm shifts on how to market professional services, build firm brand, and staying abreast of technical issues, you probably find yourself asking critical questions.

  • How do I connect with my existing clients, retain them, and gain new ones?
  • How can I distinguish myself to stand out from the competition?
  • How do I grow my firm’s revenues?
  • How can I refine my technical skills and gain confidence?

Partners Robert Ranallo and Sean Saari will present on the subject of Valuation Issues in Developing and Executing Buy-Sell Agreements as part of the conversation that will offer answers to these questions and present strategies to empower you to build upon the trails you have already blazed.

EVENT: Future-Proofing Your Business with Technology

Technology is rapidly moving from a business enabler to the core of the business. New technologies such as “big data” and analytics, the internet of things (IoT), robotics, mobile technology, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity are transforming the way business gets done.

Where do you start? Should you go it alone? How do you navigate the maze of technology and applications, decipher the alphabet soup of acronyms, identify where it can drive value, and then make informed decisions about integrating it?

Please join Dave Mustin, MBA, partner with Skoda Minotti’s Management Consulting Group, as he explores the business implications of technology and their impact on businesses of all sizes and scopes, and presents strategies for charting a path through these disruptive times. This session will focus on addressing technology from an executive perspective while leaving technical jargon to the side.
